Inter have been hit with a massive setback ahead of two of the most crucial fixtures in their season. With the Serie A title on the line and the Champions League final on the horizon, the club is facing a double injury blow as key players Benjamin Pavard and Piotr Zielinski were ruled out for the game against Como on Friday. The late injury concerns come as a major worry for manager Simone Inzaghi, who will be hoping to have all his players fit and firing ahead of next week's Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain.

Pavard suffered an ankle sprain during Inter's clash against Roma a couple of weeks ago, which saw him miss both legs of the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona earlier this month. He is yet to return to full fitness, with Inzaghi hoping that he can count on the 2018 World Cup-winning defender to be available against the French heavyweights next week. As for Zielinski, he suffered a medial ligament calf injury in his right leg in March, during Inter's 3-2 win over Monza.

Inter will be contesting in their second Champions League final in three seasons. They played in the final in 2023, but eventually lost 1-0 to Manchester City. The last time they won the 'Big Ears' trophy was back in 2010, under Jose Mourinho, when they also achieved a historic treble. To date, the Nerazzurri remain the only Italian side to achieve the feat.
